What is Pilates?

Pilates is a physical fitness system which was developed in the 1920’s by Joseph Pilates, after whom it was named. Pilates is both innovative and safe. In his book Return to Life through Contrology, Joseph Pilates presents his method as the art of controlled movements, which should look and feel like a workout. The Pilates equipment consists of spring-based resistance providing a low-impact and dynamic workout.
